Yutan man denied parole in wife’s beating death

A Yutan, Nebraska man who asked for his freedom years after the murder of his wife is denied parole.
In 1999, Mark Schnabel killed his wife, Sandy and staged a fake car accident as a cover up.
While the judge wanted life in prison without parole for Schnabel, she didn’t write down a minimum sentence number, which is required by state law. That made him eligible for parole.
A five person parole board met Thursday morning to decide his fate.
Sandy was a teacher and volleyball coach at Yutan High School.
