30 Lincoln-area baseball players take part in first Brolhorst-Fagler All-Star Game

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Baseball history was made in Lincoln on Monday night.

Thirty of the area’s best high school senior baseball players representing 16 high schools gathered for an inaugural all-star game named after two hall of fame coaches: Randy Brolhorst and Bill Fagler.

The game was organized by Jerome Ehlrich, who said he had been planning the event since July.

Inspired by the Collin-Orcutt All-Star Seniors baseball game, which is played every Memorial Day in Omaha, Ehlrich wanted a way to celebrate graduating seniors and kick off the summer American Legion baseball season.

Brolhorst and Fagler attended as honorary captains and threw out the first pitches to their grandsons.

Team Brolhorst won the game 27-4.

The night also included a raffle of Ehlrich’s artwork.

He painted both Joba Chamberlain, who was coached by Fagler, and Alex Gordon, who was coach by Brolhorst.

The raffle winner, Will Jesske, gave them as a surprise to Brolhorst and Fagler.

Waverly’s Ethan Von Bush also won a free painting.
