Monday afternoon, Lincoln Police were called to Baxter Auto, at 6601 Telluride Dr., around 3 o’clock on check fraud.

A male and female had written a check for a 54,285 dollar 2020 Dodge Durango the prior Saturday. The check was found to be a starter check, with no funds in the account. Both provided photo ID’s during purchase.

warrant for Robbery.

LPD found this same couple went to Dillon’s Auto, at 6341 N. 28th St., that same Monday and attempted to buy three vehicles with the fraudulent checks for 101,076 dollars total. Thankfully, the dealership check with the bank and discovered the checks were fraudulent, turning the couple away.

The couple had also visited Greg Young Auto, at 6500 Telluride Dr. the Friday before, where they purchased a 2017 Dodge Durango with a check for 35,589 dollars.

LPD located them near 14th and Hwy 2, where the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Due to dangerous driving behavior, officers did not pursue. They were later taken into custody near the intersection of 14th and Old Cheney by the Metro Fugitive Task Force.

Lovstad was arrested for Flee to Avoid Arrest and felony Theft by Deception. More charges are likely.

Brantner was arrested for the felony warrant, and more charges are also likely.

Both Dodge Durangos were recovered.
