Cooler than normal for the weekend
Take out a couple of warm days this month and it has been cool. April is currently running 2.5° below normal per day in Lincoln. Cooler than normal temperatures will continue in to early next week.
Skies will remain clear over southeast Nebraska tonight. Combined with lighter winds, temperatures will drop down to the middle 20°s for early Saturday morning.
Mainly sunny skies are expected for the start of Saturday. High-level clouds will start to move in late morning and early afternoon, allowing for filtered sunshine. Temperatures will top out in the lower to middle 50°s.
A quick moving system will pass through Nebraska late Saturday night and early Sunday. The weather system will keep clouds in place and also bring a chance for light scattered showers Sunday morning in southeast Nebraska. Showers could linger through late morning. While skies will be slow to clear from west to east, I do think there will be pops of sunshine by late Sunday afternoon in the Lincoln area. Highs will reach the middle 50°s.
It looks as though Nebraska will get a break from increased fire weather concerns through the weekend. I suspect we may be dealing with more Red Flag Warnings being issued around the state late next week. This would follow the trend of a large number of Red Flag Warnings being issued this year. It turns out we have had more Red Flag Warnings issued this year (to date) than any other time in the previous 16 years. More details can be found here.
