LFR was called to the area of 1606 N. 31st St. around 6 a.m., Friday.

We have a reporter on location, that says crews used a foam spray on the house.

They also say there is extensive damage to the exterior.

UPDATE:

A Lincoln woman is lucky to be alive, after a massive fire tore through a house near 31st and Holdrege streets.

Heather Sun was the only person home at the time.

She says she woke up after falling asleep in the living room with a lit candle nearby.

“When I woke up I just saw orange in the room right across from me where I had the candles at. It was a split thing, I started yelling for the dogs to come, they jumped up and came running with me,” said Sun.

This all happened around 6 am Friday morning.

Sun says she was extremely fortunate to make it out.

“If I wouldn’t have woken up when I did I don’t think I would have made it. I wouldn’t have made it. That’s how fast the flame went.”

Unfortunately, 5 cats are still missing.

Sun wanted to go back inside to look for her cats.

But the flames were too intense.

“I was trying to get my cats out. I had five of them inside. I don’t think they made it. The two dogs made it out with me.”

Fire crews arrived and immediately called for back–up due to the heavy smoke and flames.

Their main objective was trying to stop the fire from spreading to other homes nearby, which was successful.

The blaze was eventually knocked down.

The entire first and second floors are decimated, and parts of the attic, charred.

“All of my belongings, all of my husbands belongings were in there. My car got demolished by the flames, said Sun.

The fire was so hot, Sun’s car in the driveway started melting.

After seeing the damage, her neighbor is astounded and thankful that heather is safe.

“She got out with her shoes and her dogs. That was it. And her life. She just lost everything. It’s all gone. Just imagine everything you have is gone,” said Michelle Peacock, Sun’s neighbor.

Sun is thankful that her two dogs are okay and continues to pray that the cats are found alive.

The damage estimate is $250,000 and the house is a considered total loss.

As for the cats, they’re still unaccounted for at this time.

If anyone would like to help Heather Sun out during this difficult time, we will be updating this story when a go fund me is made.
