“Come From Away” comes to Lied Center
The tale of human drama in the days following September 11th is sure to delight.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The events of September 11, 2001, are all too clear in the minds of many. However, despite the horrors of that day, many positives emerge on further reflection. Patriotism and togetherness come to mind. “Come From Away” is one such tale, although this one comes from Canada.
Thousands of travelers were grounded in the town of Gander, Newfoundland, trying to sort through their thoughts and feelings as the terrorist attacks unfolded. Their stories would eventually be brought to life on the stage, and “Come From Away” continues on its US tour in 2022.
James Earl Jones II portrays a handful of characters in the show, and explains, “It is not a 9-11 story. It is a 9-12 story, and it is about the subsequent days after.”
Jones further states, “It is a love letter to humanity. If you want to be reminded of the goodness of people, if you want to be reminded about kindness and hope, if you want to be changed for the better, come see our show.”
The musical has a number of performances at the Lied Center this week, and you can see them all here.
