A pedestrian is critically injured after being hit by a mini van.

It happened about 7:45 p.m. west of the Harris Overpass at the intersection of 1st and O Streets.

Witnesses first thought the person was a bicyclist and one was found at the scene, but police said it was not his.

The man was rushed to Bryan West Campus. Authorities said his injuries are life-threatening.

Police shut down westbound O at 9th Street, but it has since opened.

According to police, witnesses said the man may have gone through a crosswalk against the light when he was hit. They also said it appears the driver was going the speed limit, and early in the investigation is not at fault.

Police are working to identify the pedestrian. They are investigating if anyone broke the law.
