YMCA hosts 11th annual Youth Sports Adventure Run

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Saturday’s early rain showers didn’t stop families from participating in the YMCA’s event to raise money for families in need.

Over 250 people gathered at wright park today to contribute to the cause of raising money for children in need.

Through sponsorships from local businesses and donations from participating families, the YMCA can provide YMCA sports scholarships for lower-income households.

This includes sports team fees, practices, swimming lessons, and many other sports activities offered through the YMCA.

Todd Johnson, the executive director of YMCA youth sports said he’s seen the growth of the event throughout the years and hopes for an even bigger turnout next year.

“When we started 11 years ago we had 30 kids and it was an individual kid run,” Johnson said “but we saw families running together so we made it a family run.”
