Savings tips for the summer months

Summer can turn into a spending spree, if you’re not careful.
Entertaining friends and family, attending concerts, splurging on sporting events and taking summer vacations all add up.
With so many expenses, one thing is always forgotten.
“Budgeting is the big big thing, most people don’t do it. It’s called the b word, nobody likes it, they don’t want to do it,” Brad Ewerth said.
People tend to get carried away with spending and don’t consider a budget.
With these mistakes, people often end up facing the consequences later on.
“What happens is people will start spending money on credit cards or spending money and they will kind of lose track of what they spent and when the summers over they have all these bills piled up that they have to spend the rest of the year paying off,” Ewerth said.
Although budgeting can be scary, if you’re still looking for that summer vacation, there’s always a few simple tricks that can make that trip a reality.
“I think a key to it is to have an understanding what it is you’re expectations are from the get go, as far as the pieces of a trip you’re looking to maximize as well as what you should be looking to spend,” Paul Glenn said.
Although most people are drawn to vacationing in the summer months, Glenn says if you are able to, avoiding the peak months from May to September could not only save you money but also help with crowds.
“If you get out of that peak season where all of the kids throughout the country are out of school you might be able to find a shoulder season and get 50% more for your money,” Glenn said.
