House Fire Causes Damage In North Lincoln

Three people escaped from their burning home in northwest Lincoln Saturday after a smoke detector alerted them to a fire.

Firefighters went to the house, 2400 N. Main St., at about 11:30 a.m. and found much of the single-story home already burning, Lincoln Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Bruce Sellon said.

Firefighters were able to save the house's structure, but it still has significant fire, smoke and water damage throughout.

Fire Inspector Darrell Cox said improperly discarded smoking materials – probably a cigarette – caught a bed on fire in the basement.

Damage is estimate at $150,000.
