The 62nd Annual Goehner Spaghetti Feed brings in more than a thousand people on a cold Sunday afternoon

The Goehner Fire Department hosted their 62nd Annual Spaghetti feed.

With a little over 20 volunteer firefighters, and in a town with no more than 200 people who call it home they served more than 1,500 people from all across the state.

“It’s got some spice and a little tang to it but it’s not overly done and the guys just do a great job in a high volume,” Doug Brand who has gone to the spaghetti feed for more than 40 years said.

All of the money raised from the spaghetti feed goes towards the Goehner volunteer fire department, and to the city.

“It’s a big deal it helps a lot this is our main fundraiser for the department so it’s a pretty big deal,” Jesse Meinberg a volunteer firefighter said.

After 62 years of hosting this event they have always used the same spaghetti recipe, and only a few people like Marvin Schulz, who has been here since day one, know the actual recipe and he’s going to keep it that way.

“I can’t tell you I guess, there’s a little bit of this and that in there,” Marvin Schulz said.

Some people wait in line for more than 30 minutes just to get a plate of spaghetti.

For those who come they will all tell you that even though the crew is low on numbers they produce one of the best plates of spaghetti in the state.

“It’s a pretty good they keep on doing it, and they probably will forever. You never know,” Schulz said
