The changing weather has caused some major in-home damage for Lincoln homeowners

The near-record low temperatures in Nebraska earlier this week caused a lot of damage to home piping.
While a lot of the problems comes from homes that are vacant or homes that are for sale. But some experts say in colder weather and then quickly followed by warmer weather anyone can see major damage.
“If you know you’ve had problems in the past with some freeze ups obviously if there’s a way to introduce some sort of heat into that area whether it’s up in the ceiling if there is a cabinet you could open up to allow heat to get like the kitchen sink pipes or the old and additive a little trickle in the faucet you know if water is moving I won’t freeze so that’s something else a step you can take,” Joe Reinke the Plumbing Consultant from John Henry said.
If you experience anything out the ordinary or anything that could be worrisome the experts say to reach out to fix the problem immediately.
“The main thing is just call right away. You know try to get it thawed out, try to get the problem the pipes from being frozen obviously the longer the more chance there is for it to expand and split,” Reinke said.
