State Patrol Officer Arrested For Sexual Abuse

A Nebraska state patrol officer has been arrested for 1st degree sexual assualt of a child. Major Billy Hobbs was taken into custody Friday afternoon at the Nebraska state headquarters, after the victim, a fourteen year old female, reported unwanted sexual contact with Hobbs.

After serving with the state patrol for almost 27 years, the news about Hobbs comes as a complete shock to fellow law enforcement agenices in the state. The Lancaster County sheriff's office was notified when a fourteen year old female victim told officials at her school about the unwanted activity.  Law enforcement searched Hobbs' home on West “A” Street in Lincoln, and seized clothing, a computer and three digital cameras. The victim also told police Hobbs had been sexually assualting her for a period of 18 months.

Officials say they're shocked by the news. Mjor hobbs has worked with several different units within the state patrol, oof those, a division to monitor sex offenders in the state. 

 Hobbs is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
