When should Nebraska consider easing social distancing measures?
According to researchers from the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), the answer is June 8 – or later. And that’s only if strong containment measures are in place.
IHME bases the dates off projections of all-age COVID-19 prevalent infections. That means all infections occurring in a location (not just new cases) and when the projections fall below one prevalent infection per one-million people in a state’s population. That’s the threshold they say could be manageable for state healthcare systems, though it could still be ambitious for some.
