LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man was arrested after reportedly sexually assaulting a woman, kidnapping her and her child and then attempting to attack officers with a knife.
Joshua Salazar, 29, was arrested Saturday on 15 felony charges including kidnapping and first-degree sexual assault.
A day prior to Salazar’s arrest, a 32-year-old woman reported Salazar had held her against her will at knife point for several hours at her home. The woman reported Salazar sexually assaulted her before forcing her and a two-year-old child into a car while threatening them with the knife.
The woman suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police say Salazar was riding his bike Saturday evening in north Lincoln when officers tried to make contact with him.
After a short chase, Salazar pulled out a knife and came towards officers with it while threatening to kill them, police said.
Officers retreated while attempting to negotiate with Salazar, who then claimed to have a gun and pointed a laser at the officers, police said.
Salazar held a knife to his throat and was hit by several non-lethal rounds fired by officers and fell to the ground, police said. An officer then used a Taser on Salazar before taking him into custody.
Salazar was treated at a hospital for what police say are non-life threatening injuries before being lodged in Lancaster County Jail.
