Fisherman discovers human skull in northeast Nebraska creek

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A fisherman stumbled across human remains Sunday afternoon at a creek in northeast Nebraska.
The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said the fisherman found the skull at Union Creek, just southwest of Stanton.
This is the agency’s fifth discovery of human remains in the last five years.
Investigators think the skull had been in the creek for a “significant period of time.”
The skull is “mostly intact” and will be evaluated by a forensic anthropologist to “determine characteristics and if the skull is historical,” the sheriff’s office said.
