2.8 magnitude earthquake rumbles in south-central Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The United States Geological Survey on Sunday reported an earthquake in south-central Nebraska.
Just after 8:45 p.m., a 2.8 magnitude earthquake rumbled about 6 miles from Cowles, which is a 30-minute drive south of Hastings.
There have been no reports of any major damage or injuries due to the quake.
Earthquakes are rare in Nebraska, but they do happen every once in a while.
An earthquake was recorded in a similar area in December 2023.

The epicenter was about 15 miles northeast of Red Cloud, just north of the Kansas border.
