Another round of storms brings high wind and heavy rain to southeast Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Severe storms slammed parts of central and southeast Nebraska again Saturday night into Sunday morning.
The storms brought both high winds and heavy rain.
Central Lancaster County, including Lincoln, is under a flash flood warning until 5:45 a.m.
Radar detected wind speeds topping 90 mph in some locations, but the winds weakened as the storms moved east.
The Nuckolls County Sheriff’s Department said multiple powerlines fell on highways and urged people not to travel.
The heaviest winds went through Thayer County, Meteorologist Houston Hall said.
More than 1,000 customers were without power in and around Hebron, according to the Norris Public Power District.
Parts of Lancaster and Saline counties were under a tornado warning due to radar-indicated rotation, but it expired early.
The severe weather came on the heels of a storm early Saturday morning with winds over 90 mph, which damaged homes and trees and left thousands without power.
