No. 1 Nebraska beats No. 3 Pitt in four sets in season opener
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — No. 1 Nebraska volleyball defeated No. 3 Pittsburgh 3-1 in its season opener Friday in the AVCA First Serve Showcase.
The Huskers won 25-22, 25-11, 20-25, 25-23 in Dani Busboom Kelly’s first match as head coach.
Nebraska outhit Pitt .224% to .111%.
The Huskers had a dominant second set, which included a 5-point run.
The Panthers briefly flipped the script by winning the third set, but despite a game-leading 21 kills by Olivia Babcock, they couldn’t stop Nebraska.
Harper Murray led the Huskers with 15 kills, while Andi Jackson added 10.
Laney Choboy racked up 16 digs, and Bergen Reilly had 10.
