LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska state senators have been invited to visit the ICE facility in McCook next week.

State Sen. Myron Dorn tells Channel 8 that all 49 senators were invited to visit the facility — also known as the “Cornhusker Clink” — on Monday.

Dorn, a member of the Nebraska Legislature’s Executive Board, said there’s been discussion with the governor’s office for the last several weeks about arranging a tour for senators.

The governor’s office then reached out to the federal government for approval of the tour.

Dorn also noted that this tour comes after senators have attempted to visit the facility only to be denied entry.

Earlier this week, the Nebraska Examiner reported that Machaela Cavanaugh was denied entry into the facility last month.

Channel 8 reached out to Cavanaugh for comment on the invitation to tour the facility.
