LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A train and a car collided in eastern Nebraska on Friday.

Around 8:45 a.m., the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was called to the crash on County Road C and Wheatley Road, southwest of Uehling.

An investigation revealed that a white Chevrolet Avalanche was headed east on County Road C, while a Burlington Northern Santa Fe was moving south.

According to authorities, the Avalanche collided with the second engine of the train.

The driver of the Avalanche was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.

The sheriff’s office said the driver was not wearing a seat belt and that the airbags deployed.

Speed was not a factor. The investigation is ongoing.
