No. 9 Nebraska softball splits opening day at UTSA Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The No. 9-ranked Nebraska softball team split opening day at the UTSA Invitational on Friday, beating No. 25 Washington and falling to No. 1 Texas at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio.
The Huskers started the day with an 8-5 win over the Huskies.
Jordyn Frahm led Nebraska with a 2-for-3 showing from the plate with an RBI, while Hannah Camenzind went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Lauren Camenzind paced the Huskers with three RBIs, while UNLV transfer catcher Jesse Farrell had two.
Farrell hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning to start her Husker career with a bang.
Alexis Jensen got the win on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up six hits, five runs and three earned runs.
Jensen also fanned 10 batters while not giving up any walks.
In the second game of the night, Nebraska fell to the top-ranked Longhorns 15-10.
Farrell and H. Camenzind each had three hits, while Farrell smashed her second home run of the day. Oklahoma transfer Hannah Coor also hit a 3-run homer to lead the team in RBIs.
Frahm took the loss on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up six runs on six hits. Five of those runs were earned. Frahm struck out two batters and walked one.
H. Camenzind also pitched three innings, giving up seven runs (four earned) on seven hits with no strikeouts.
Nebraska will take on another two-game slate on Saturday, starting with No. 1 Texas at 3:35 p.m.
Following that game, the Huskers will match up with UTSA at 6:05 p.m. Both games are being streamed on ESPN+.
