Athlete of the week: Crete’s Kassidy Egge

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A new single season rebound champ resides in Crete, Nebraska.
Sophomore Kassidy Egge broke the Crete Cardinals single season rebounding record this past week, surpassing the record of 302.
She did so in Thursday nights overtime win over Aurora, 58-50. Egge notched 17 points 17 rebounds, her ninth straight double-double.
But, Egge doesn’t take credit for the record all by herself. Instead, she gives all the praise to her team.
“You know it’s fun, but I give all the credit to my team, my coaches, and my family,” said Egge. “I wouldn’t be here without them.”
Egge averages 13.8 RPG, ranking 5th in the state. She also is the leading scorer for the Crete Cardinals, averaging 12.2 PPG.
After a 1-9 start to the season, they won the final 13 of their 14, finishing with a 14-10 regular season record.
We started off to a rough start, but towards the end we started playing like a team,” Egge said. “We’ve truly become like family this season.”
But now, Egge will lead the team to the post season, where she says there’s only one thing left to do.
“Just to play the best basketball we can play, and play for each other.”
