Lincoln Airport celebrates addition of American Airlines service to Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Airport on Thursday hosted a ribbon-cutting to celebrate American Airlines starting service to two new destinations.
American Airlines’ new service from Lincoln includes:
- Daily nonstop service to Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
- Twice-daily nonstop service to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW)
- Seasonal nonstop service to Phoenix (PHX) starting Dec. 17
“We are thrilled to unlock new connections between American’s global network and the Lincoln community,” said Joseph Hughes, American’s Managing Director of Government Affairs. “Our new nonstop service between Lincoln and two of our most connected hubs — Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago — provides our newest community with convenient one-stop access to more than 350 destinations around the globe. We look forward to welcoming customers on board across our multiple daily options connecting Lincoln with the world on American.”
The airport said the new routes provide expanded access to American’s global network while increasing competition, connectivity and convenience for travelers across Nebraska.
“This is an exciting day not only for Lincoln Airport, but for our entire community and region,” said Chris Hove, Chair of the Lincoln Airport Authority Board. “The arrival of American Airlines represents years of strategic planning, partnership building, and community support. These new flights create more travel options, strengthen our local economy, and further position Lincoln for future growth.”
According to the airport, the addition of the Dallas-Fort Worth service addresses one of Lincoln’s largest unmet air service demands.
According to a recent Lincoln Airport Business Travel Survey conducted in partnership with the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and air service consultant CMT, approximately 40% of surveyed
businesses indicated regular travel to the DFW market.
“Lincoln travelers have consistently asked for more airline choices, expanded destinations, and better connectivity,” said Rachel Barth, Director of Air Service Development and Strategic Marketing. “American Airlines delivers all three. We are incredibly proud to welcome American to LNK and celebrate this historic moment with our passengers, partners, and community.”
American Airlines will operate routes using CRJ-700 and CRJ-900 aircraft featuring First Class, Main Cabin Extra and Main Cabin seating options.
“We’re proud to welcome Lincoln Airport into DFW’s growing global network through our partnership with American Airlines,” said Milton De la Paz, Vice President, Air Service Development and Cargo at DFW Airport. “As one of the world’s premier connecting hubs, DFW offers access to more than 270 nonstop destinations worldwide, providing Southeast Nebraska travelers with enhanced connectivity to domestic and international markets, further strengthening business, tourism and economic ties between our regions.”
Since 2025, LNK has added new service from Breeze Airways to Orlando, Las Vegas and Orange County, while United Airlines has continued service to both Denver and Chicago.
