Savannah Bananas looking to hire locals for games at Haymarket Park, Memorial Stadium

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Savannah Bananas are looking for local workers to help out for their games in Lincoln.

The unique type of baseball is all about entertaining fans.

Players will sing, dance and hit home runs during a game.

On Thursday, the team will play in Haymarket Park. On Saturday, a sold-out crowd will watch them play in Memorial Stadium.

“We’re creating a new experience every time we’re in a new city,” said Harper Mayfield, one of the World Tour staffing coordinators for Banana Ball.

The organization hires locals wherever they travel. Mayfield said those people will man the merchandise tables and help with ticketing and logistics on game day.

The applications are already open. Beyond some paperwork, there’s not much you have to do before the game.

“When they arrive on site is when we do the training for either merchandise or ticketing,” Mayfield said. “It’s really simple training, which is nice.”

Workers get paid $15 an hour.

Mayfield said there are many opportunities for people with other commitments.

The organization is looking for another 30 workers for the game on Thursday. For Memorial Stadium, they’re hoping for another 100 people willing to work.

“The event generates a lot of money for the city, restaurants, hotels, all of those fun things,” Mayfield said. “But also, it creates new work experiences for people and things they can add to their resume.”
