City Council approves removal of Flock cameras in Ord

ORD, Neb. (KLKN) — Yesterday, Ord’s City Council conducted a meeting where a vote was passed supporting the removal of Flock cameras throughout Ord.

Flock cameras are automated license plate readers that store vehicle data.

The Ord Police Department (OPD) said Flock can be an asset for law enforcement.

“We agree that while FLOCK is a highly effective investigative asset for law enforcement, the technology introduces complex privacy concerns that warrant a national-level conversation,” OPD said, “Our ultimate mandate is to serve you in a manner that firmly protects both the public and your personal liberties. The Ord Police Department will continue to aggressively investigate crime and protect our neighborhoods using strategies that uphold community consensus and trust.”
