Cool Today Before Unsettled Weather

A warm/HOT day across Nebraska under mostly/partly sunny skies! Highs ranging from 80° – 99° with dew points in the 50s & 60s! SE Nebraska will stay cooler due to fog and low clouds lingering through the early evening hours.
Some patchy fog mixed with low level clouds will stay around southeast Nebraska through 4-5pm! We all know fog is one stubborn thing! But, it will keep us in the 70s & low 80s for highs!
We will need some winds farther southeast to get rid of those clouds faster. The strongest winds will be across north central Nebraska with southeast gusts up to 25+ mph.
7-11pm: A few storms COULD form out west, carrying winds up to 60+ mph as they move SE. A very conditional severe threat for this evening.
Friday Rain/Storm Chance: August 7, 2026
There is uncertainty on IF, WHERE & WHEN storms will form Friday. An area of HIGH Instability mixed with the LLJ will lay from Tekamah & south , giving fuel to any storms that develop. Some models hint at a few storms along the Missouri river near lunch time, while others wait until the evening. Better storm chances would be Friday evening.
Friday evening ahead of the cold front, there will be decent storm fuel. The best chance for storms will be from Columbus, Tri-cities & south. Gusty winds and small hail will be possible!
Saturday brings severe weather chances across much of eastern Nebraska. Storms capable of damaging winds up to 60+ mph will be possible in the early afternoon and late night hours. Stay up to date for the latest!
DENSE FOG through the afternoon Thursday. Isolated storm chances Friday. Watching Saturday morning and night for severe weather potential. The next 7 days, there will be occasional night time storm chances with any severe concerns being gusty winds. We will watch the latest model trends in case anything changes. As of now, it looks like next week brings decent rain/storm chances across the state with near or BELOW average temperatures!
