Gov. Pillen signs executive order implementing a statewide plan for economic development

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — On Sept. 29, Gov. Jim Pillen signed an executive order during the Governor’s Summit.
The order creates the Governor’s Economic Growth Working Group (Working Group) that will oversee the establishing of a statewide strategic plan and a statewide site and asset inventory, along with establishing appropriate administrative and operational support.
“We are taking a major step forward to ensure Nebraska competes – and wins – on the national and global stage,” Pillen said. “Since taking office, my vision has been clear: run state government like a business, cut taxes, eliminate red tape, and partner directly with our job creators. To win corporate expansions, attract major capital investment and keep our best talent here, we must fire on all cylinders as one team across all 93 counties and all six regions of Nebraska.”
Members of the Working Group include representatives from the Governor’s Policy Research Office, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED), the Nebraska Economic Developers Association, the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Greater Omaha Chamber, the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, regional economic development organizations and partners from Nebraska’s six regions. The Working Group will be chaired by the director of the DED.
