Lincoln City Council holds off on resolution concerning UNL payments

The Lincoln City Council is delaying its decision on a resolution on how much UNL pays for emergency services.

Councilman Roy Christensen said UNL pays $16,000 per year, while other Big 10 schools pay around $450,000.

His resolution would open negotiations between the city and university.

Christensen said he requested to put the issue on pending because UNL voluntarily reached out to him about the issue.

“We began some informal talks on the subject of compensation of the city by the university, Christensen said.  “And I think there’s some progress that’s already been made and I expect more progress to be made.”

Christensen said he hopes they come to an agreement without the city passing a resolution.
