‘A community helping hand’: Lincoln launches a way to support the city through COVID-19


MayorFriday, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird unveiled a new way for Lincoln to endure COVID-19.

The “Lincoln COVID-19 Fund” has now been launched, with the purpose of assisting nonprofits who serve vulnerable, or newly vulnerable, individuals.

Hosted by the Lincoln Community Foundation, it is designed to rapidly deploy flexible resources to the community’s philanthropic organizations.

The process, criteria, and grant decisions will be determined by the Lincoln COVID-19 Response Committee, made up of community representatives.

Mayor Gaylor Baird stated “the economic impact is already being keenly felt by the people of Lincoln. Our people are suffering in ways that go beyond public health”.
