About 100 riders show up for domestic violence poker run in southeast Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Around 100 engines roared across southeast Nebraska on Saturday for a poker run.
But not just any poker run.
The cards were dealt by the local nonprofit — EnoughDV — to shine a light on the domestic violence crisis in Nebraska.
“We are honoring eight beautiful women that have lost their lives,” said Brittany Micari, the community events coordinator for EnoughDV. “There was one in 2021, one in 2023, and the most recent in 2024 and 2025. I reached out to all of their family members to gather permissions to use them at the final stop. We’ll have a large memorial table put together for them.”
Riders made five stops across the state: Valparaiso, David City, Staplehurst and Seward before making the last stop at Braska Bar in Lincoln.
Players drew cards at each stop, hoping for a winning hand at the final destination.
Micari said this helps people remember the victims’ names and start the conversation.
“Honoring the victims, stopping the silence, all to help promote ending domestic violence,” she said. “The more that people speak out, rally around those that have died, maybe it might prevent more deaths. If we can save one, that’s amazing.”
The group “Bikers Against Child Abuse” joined the drive.
Two riders, Timber and Doc, said they are happy to join forces for the cause.
“Our sole mission is to help empower abused children to not be afraid of the world in which they live,” Timber said. “If our mission can help shine a light on domestic violence, then we’re more than willing to help.”
And Doc adds that this helps their mission too.
“A lot of times, domestic violence and child abuse go hand in hand.”
