Affidavit: Lincoln woman living near school had more than 13 ounces of meth in bedroom

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln woman was charged with six felonies Monday after police say they found more than 13 ounces of meth in her home.

Amber Bates, 33, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, no drug tax stamp and possession of money while violating a drug law.

On Thursday, investigators with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force arrested Bates at her workplace so they could search her home near 72nd and Havelock streets.

Her house is 80 feet from Norwood Elementary School.

Officers searched Bates’ purse and found $180 in cash and 2.9 grams of cocaine in a vial.

According to court documents, investigators searched Bates’ bedroom and found 232.6 grams of methamphetamine in the trash can.

Investigators also found 123.9 grams of meth under a Mac computer and 20 grams of meth in the drawer of a makeup vanity.

In total, investigators found about 13.3 ounces of meth in the home.

Law enforcement also found a variety of other drugs in the bedroom, according to court documents.

Bates’ next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13 at 10 a.m.
