LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — On Oct. 27, All Kids Bikes taught St. Teresa Catholic School kindergarteners how to ride a bike.

All Kids Bikes is run by the Strider Education Foundation, aimed at teaching kindergarteners how to ride bikes during physical education classes. This initiative is part of their Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program.

“Learning to ride a bike is about so much more than getting from one place to another,” Lisa Weyer, executive director of All Kids Bike, said. “It gives children the opportunity to build confidence, develop coordination and experience the joy of being active. By bringing learn-to-ride instruction into schools, we’re helping children discover an activity they can enjoy throughout their lives while encouraging healthy habits beyond the screen.”

The program gives schools everything they would need to teach the students how to ride a bike including training, curriculum and equipment.

The students rode their Strider bicycles with their student helmets for the first time, starting their eight-lesson curriculum.

“We want our students to experience the joy of learning, growing and discovering the world around them, and learning to ride a bike is a wonderful part of that journey,” Sister Mary Michael, principal at St. Teresa Catholic School, said. “The All Kids Bike program gives our kindergarteners an opportunity to step away from screens, get active and build confidence as they develop a skill they can enjoy for a lifetime. We’re grateful to bring this program to St. Teresa and give our students a fun, meaningful way to build healthy habits that extend beyond the classroom.”
