Another cool & windy day 4/14/2022

Southeast Nebraska is off to a cold start! Wind chill values are in the teens for most, so heat up your car and grab your winter layers before you head out the door. Wind gusts are currently around 15 to 30 mph across the area, but they will quickly increase above 40 mph by the afternoon and evening today. These strong wind gusts will not only ruin your hair, but they will also raise the concern for fire weather. A Red Flag Warning will go into effect at noon and will remain in effect until 9 PM for the entire viewing area. Wind speeds eventually relax overnight and temperatures plunge right back into the upper 20s. Make sure to bring in your plants or cover them up in order to protect them! We remain in the mid to upper 50s through Monday and also see a bit more relaxed wind speeds. The forecast looks fairly dry in that time period, but we could see some morning showers on Easter Sunday. Don’t cancel your Easter Egg hunts just yet though, because the forecast will change a bit into Sunday.
