Attempted murder investigation in Grand Island leads to 3 arrests
A 40-year-old from the area is accused of shooting at another man and missing him, before the bullet hit another place full of people
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KLKN) — Grand Island Police arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after serving a high-risk search warrant Tuesday night near the intersection of John and Jefferson Streets, around 6 p.m.
The arrest of Vincent Nagel, 40, of Grand Island, led the Tactical Response Team to other wanted criminals as well, according to police, including Alex Cruz, 20, and Ryan Fuentes, 30.
On Monday, Nagel allegedly fired a handgun at Joaquin Garcia, 31. Police say the bullet narrowly missed Garcia and struck an occupied structure nearby.
Earlier the same day, Cruz used Nagel’s vehicle to avoid being arrested, said police. Fuentes had multiple unrelated warrants out of Hall County.
Nagel was arrested on suspicion of criminal attempt of first-degree murder, unlawful discharge of a firearm, use of a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, possession of a controlled substance (meth), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation is still open.
