Beloved Seward County Sheriff K-9 dies after stroke

The Seward County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of its K-9s. 

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Seward County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of its K-9s.

The agency said Thursday the dog, Igor, suffered a stroke and died wrapped in the arms of Sheriff Mike Vance.

Igor was in service for more than eight years, and helped capture numerous criminals and seize millions of dollars worth of contraband.

“Igor was a staple of our community and will greatly be missed,” the agency wrote in a Facebook post. “The legacy he left behind will never be forgotten. Thank you for your service Igor, you will forever be in our hearts.”

Igor, who was 12 years old, had recently been retired by the department after developing a degenerative nerve disease.
