Blizzard warning in place for much of Nebraska on Wednesday
A vigorous winter storm is going to move across the state Wednesday bringing with it a lot of wind and quite a bit of snow. Below are the forecast snow totals by Wednesday evening.
Below is what our StormCast weather model is saying for timing and duration.
As that cold front moves across the state, it may spark some t-storms just after midnight. Any storm that can get going may have some hail in it, so a “Marginal Risk” is in place for that time period.
The wind is going to be blowing the above snow all over the place. Winds will be out of the north at 35 to 45 mph, gusting up to 70 mph at times.
Because of the snow and wind potential, much of the state is in a Blizzard Warning through Wednesday.
High Wind Warnings are also in place for Wednesday. Wind gusts nearing 70mph are possible.
Temperatures are going to be at or just above the freezing mark, so this will be a heavy, wet snow that will be blowing around before it hits the ground.
The chance for snow is high through much of the day. Rain may mix in very early, then again late in the afternoon.
The wind will be an issue all day long.
