Bond set at $5 million in Branched Oak Lake homicide

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lancaster County Court Judge Joseph Dalton set bond at $5 million on Wednesday for Taban Rik in connection with the Branched Oak Lake homicide.

Rik has been in jail since he was arrested on Saturday.

Court documents say he must pay $500,000 — 10% of bond — to be released.

On July 19, Benjamin J. Case, 42, of Lincoln was having a party with four friends in the cabin of his boat.

Authorities say Rik came on board and fatally shot Case.

Rik faces several charges, including first-degree murder, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, terroristic threats and two counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony.
