LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Here’s something local and fun for families to look forward to. A local summer camp program is planning a scavenger hunt all over the Capital City.

The Bright Lights Star Search Scavenger Hunt will take families on fun activities spread throughout the city.

Teams can take pictures and support local businesses as they complete different missions. This is also a fundraiser to help Bright Lights continue to have its summer camps.

“COVID hit us pretty hard, we had to cancel in-person camps last summer,” said Megan Ockander. “We lost half of our annual income because of that. So we are able to have camps again this summer. We’re really excited about that and just having the community come back and support us as a local non-profit.”She says there are more than 50 missions to complete.

“Try to start a game of ‘Follow the Leader’ with five strangers, or find five red cars parked in a row in a parking lot,” said Ockander. Get a receipt of gas for 35 cents, find a couple that’s been married for 35 years of longer, so just trying to have some fun.”

Ockander is a big part of this scavenger hunt. She says most challenges are outside and follows the DHMs from the local health department.

If you want to mark your calendar, it’s all happening next Saturday.
Again this is going to help with future summer camps. It is $35 per team and all funds go to Bright Lights. To register for the hunt and more information, visit here.
