Case advances against Lincoln man in sexual assault of girl at North Bottoms home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A case against a Lincoln man accused of molesting a 12-year-old girl has taken a step forward.
On Tuesday, 40-year-old Hugo Zepeda waived his preliminary hearing in Lancaster County Court, and a judge sent the case to district court.
The case began early on Christmas morning, when police responded to a home in the North Bottoms neighborhood.
Court documents say Zepeda was laying on a bed next to the girl and started touching her inappropriately.

When a 23-year-old pregnant woman and her boyfriend then came into the room, they found Zepeda on top of the girl, police said.
They pulled him away, and an arrest affidavit says Zepeda hit the woman.
He is charged third-degree sexual assault of a child, assaulting a pregnant woman and terroristic threats.
His arraignment in Lancaster County District Court is scheduled for May 21.
