CAUGHT ON CAM: Car windshield speared by loose wood plank
STREETSBORO, Ohio (KLKN) — Dramatic video shows unsecured planks of wood flying off a truck- and into a driver’s windshield.
This driver’s nightmare happened on the Ohio Turnpike around 4 pm on Thursday, June 17.
The video was caught on the victim’s, Kim and Monica Awada, dashcam; showing the truck driver speeding past them before two wooden planks catch the wind and spear their windshield.
No injuries were reported following the harrowing incident.
The Awada family posted the video, highlighting a section of Ohio law that now hits closer to home:
“Ohio law Title 45 Chapter 13 Section 31. Stated: “No vehicle shall be driven or moved on any highway unless the vehicle is so constructed, loaded, or covered as to prevent any of its load from dropping, sifting, leaking, or otherwise escaping therefrom, except that sand or other substance may be dropped for the purpose of securing traction, or water or other substance may be sprinkled on a roadway in cleaning or maintaining the roadway.’ Whoever violates this section shall be punished as provided in section 4513.99 of the Revised Code.”
