Child transported to Lincoln hospital after being ejected from vehicle in rollover crash

MERRICK COUNTY, Neb. (KLKN) — A child was transported to a Lincoln hospital on Tuesday after being ejected from a vehicle.

The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a rollover accident near Highway 30 and 21st Road on Tuesday. That’s southwest of the town of Clarks and northeast of Central City.

After an initial investigation, the sheriff said a Toyota Camry was going west on Highway 30 when it slid across the center line and rolled due to icy conditions.

At least two people were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The sheriff said a child, who was not restrained, was ejected from the car. The child was transported to a trauma hospital in Lincoln, but their condition remains unknown.

Five other occupants of the car were treated for non-life threatening injuries, four of them had to be taken to a local hospital.

The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said alcohol and drugs were not a factor in this accident.

Clarks Fire and Rescue Department also assisted with this incident.
