City of Bellevue honors Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens with giant shamrock

BELLEVUE, Neb. (KLKN) — The city of Bellevue is doing its part to honor a fallen local hero.
The city added the name of Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens to it’s annual painting of the giant shamrock at the intersection of Mission Avenue and Franklin Street.
In a Facebook post, the city said it wanted to do its part to honor Tietjens with so many people expected to be in Bellevue this weekend for St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
Tietjens was one of six U.S. service members killed in action when their base was struck by a projectile in Kuwait.
“Noah devoted his life to the defense of freedom, answering the call to serve with courage, honor, and selfless commitment,” the city of Bellevue wrote on Faceook. “He was a devoted husband and father, and his sacrifice is felt deeply across the Bellevue and Offutt communities.
“As part of a proud military community, we are forever grateful for his service and the service of all those who put themselves in harm’s way to protect the values we hold dear.”
Bellevue’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration is on Saturday.
