LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Civic Nebraska is now seeking volunteers to serve as election protectors, nonpartisan observers, to monitor the primary and general elections in 2022.

Election protectors will monitor elections and polling places.  They will report their observations back to Civic Nebraska if they record any irregularities or different treatment of voters.

Volunteers will serve during the May 10 primary election and the Nov. 8 general election in Nebraska.

The election protectors also gather information regarding how elections are run from county to county in Nebraska and make sure the polling places are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The volunteers must be at least 18, live in Nebraska and must attend one virtual or in-person training session before election day, Civic Nebraska says.

Those wanting to volunteer can go here to sign up.
