Cold weekend ahead
Our average low for the second half of April is in the lower 40s. The average high is in the upper 60s. We won’t be anywhere close to either of those this weekend! We’ll be dry for the weekend, but there are several chances for rain next week.
We are going to drop below freezing for a few hours early Saturday. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s.
Because of those below freezing temperatures Saturday morning, there is a freeze warning in place for much of the eastern half of Nebraska.
We won’t warm up much on Saturday with highs about 15 degrees below average! Highs will be near 50 degrees with a gusty northwest wind.
Then it gets REALLY cold. Lows early Sunday will be in the middle 20s for most of us. We could see some record lows!
Because of the below freezing potential early Sunday, there is a Freeze Watch in place for much of the eastern half of the state.
I know this sounds like this cold is unheard of, but it’s actually pretty normal. This is the time of year we usually see our last freeze of the season!
