Cool and breezy start to the week 4/18/2022

Brrrr, we are off to a cold start this morning! Wind chill values are in the 20s and 30s across southeast Nebraska thanks to wind speeds around 15 mph. These breezy conditions will only increase by the afternoon, with gusts above 30 mph likely. Temperatures eventually warm to the mid-50s later today thanks to clearing skies. These clear skies hang around into overnight tonight and will further allow temperatures to plunge. Overnight lows will fall back below freezing into the upper 20s, so take action to protect your plants. We remain stuck in the 50s through tomorrow, before a big warming trend carries us into the end of the week. Highs bounce back above average into the 60s, 70s and even 80s! As of today, Friday potentially could be in the upper 80s! You might even need the umbrella later this week, as rain chances increase. Rain totals don’t look impressive overall, but even a little rain will help the spring plants come back to life.
