COVID death in Lancaster County, hospitalizations drop

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Today, Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) reports that a community member has died from COVID-19.

He was a man in his 70s who passed away at home. This brings the community death toll to 225.

In addition, 52 new cases of COVID-19. This brings the community total to 29,344.

More than 16,500 people have recovered from the virus, more than 147,000 vaccines administered. Last week alone, about 18,200 shots were given over three mass vaccination clinics.

LLCHD is hosting two mass vaccination clinics this week. The first is on Thursday at Pinnacle Bank Arena (PBA) for residents ages 59 and older to get their first dose of the vaccine. The second is on Friday at PBA for residents 70 years or older to get their second dose.

The weekly positivity rate is 4%.

Fifteen COVID patients are currently hospitalized (Nine from Lancaster County). Two patients are on ventilators.
