Creighton trounces Nebraska women’s hoops in early season matchup

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska women’s basketball fell to in-state rival No. 20 Creighton in the third game of the season on Tuesday.

Creighton won 77-51 as the Huskers struggled to get the offense going in both halves.

Nebraska shot only 31% from the field, while Creighton was much more productive shooting 45%.

The Huskers were also unable to secure points beyond the ark, only making five of the 18 3-pointers attempted.

Jaz Shelley led Nebraska offensively, playing 35 minutes and ending the night with 14 points and four assists.

Alexis Markowski was close behind with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Creighton’s Molly Mogensen was an offensive powerhouse against the Huskers, racking up 22 points, which included four 3-pointers.

Nebraska now sits at 2-1 with wins over UNO and Houston Christian.

The Huskers are set to face Drake on Saturday at 2 p.m.  It will be broadcast on ESPN+.
