LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Target and CVS Pharmacy jumped on the bandwagon Thursday, telling customers they must wear face masks in order to walk through their doors. The requirement will be put in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

This comes after several other big name stores made the mask mandate Wednesday such as Walmart and Sam’s Club nationwide. All customers must wear a mask when shopping, the requirement excluding those with underlying health issues and young children.

CVS Pharmacy will start the mask requirement July 20th and Target as of August 1st. Target says stores will provide disposable masks at entrances if a customer does not have one.

Channel 8 Eyewitness News reporter Alexa Skonieski talked with shoppers outside of the Target and CVS Pharmacy on 40th Street in Lincoln, asking their thoughts on the requirement. The vast majority agreed with the mandate, saying if the masks can protect people, they are more then willing to wear one.

“It’s really not that hard to put a piece of cloth on your face and it can protect others so I don’t see why there is an issue at all” said one customer.

We know that some people are not fans of wearing a mask and others feel it should be their choice on whether to wear one or not but everyone our reporter talked with on Thursday was in full support of the mask requirement.

The list of businesses requiring a face mask in their stores is growing day by day with coronavirus cases back on the rise.
