Deadliest week for Lancaster County after 5 more deaths reported

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Officials with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) report an additional five COVID-19 deaths. Since Sunday, the county has reported 22 deaths.

Overall, a total of 115 deaths have been recorded, 36 of which happened since Dec. 1.

The deceased has been identified as a man in his 60s who was hospitalized and four others who were in long-term care facilities (a woman in her 60s, two women and a man in their 80s).

Officials also announced 271 new cases today, bringing the community total to 19,466.

Reported recoveries increased from 5,591 to 5,660.

As of today, 130 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19 (81 from Lancaster County). A total of 16 are on ventilators.

The positivity rate so far this week is 27.4%.
